I was fixing some of my web copy the other day, (I believe everything can be improved, even just a little bit, and every little bit counts) so I decided to share some quick tips to spice up your copy on your lead capture pages, and sales pages.

These are the things to always keep in mind when writing your copy so that our visitor, lead, or prospective customer actually take action! Preferably the action you want them to take

So here they are… 4 Quick Tips To Spice Up Your Web Copy

1. Use short, punchy words for greater impact

There’s a rhythm to great copy and it certainly is NOT in long, BOOOOORRRRRINNNGG sentences. You MUST keep your reader interested in what you got to get your point across. Would be kinda hard to do that if they stop reading.. right?

So leave the long, boooorrrriiinnggg sentences at the door.

2. Spell out the benefits to the reader

Don’t leave anything to chance. Nothing gets assumed by the reader so make sure you tell them everything you want them to know AND everything you want to assume about you or your product.

Writing the benefits in bullets  pointswill increase readership, and show the true value of your product or solution.

3. The more magical it sounds, the more you will sell

One thing that goes without saying is that you gotta use these tips ethically and legally.

Example: “Watch Tv, Eat All Day, & Make Millions Doing Nothing!!” will PROBABLY not fly with the FTC, but you can find a healthy combination of both magical and realistic sales copy.

The unfortunate reality is, humans are lazy, when work is involved, you’ll get less sales. PERIOD.

4. Subsitute adjectives for verbs

Verbs are much more powerful words to use when describing what something does or the benefit it brings.

Adjectives are for book authors, verbs are for marketers (that’s us)

I know you’ve seen these out there. First you have MLM Courses promising more leads, more cash, and more reps. Then you have MLM Systems promising more leads, more cash and more reps.

The decision is NOT that difficult.. but I’ll lay some quick pointers to try and make it a bit easier for you to make a decision.

Let’s talk about the pros and cons of each:

MLM Systems are designed with the newbie in mind and they are created to give the marketer an “Everything-Done-For-You” package that they can promote. The pros are obvious. You get an entire marketing funnel set up for you and you can get started marketing in hours.

However, with that said… the cons are also a bit obvious for the “semi-experienced” marketer that know the importance of personal branding. Although some high-tech systems allow you to personalize the process, using the same replicated sites hundreds of other members are using to promote themselves is typically not a good branding strategy… but then again – that’s just my opinion.

Now…

MLM Courses, for the most part, are designed to “take you by the hand” and help you create your own marketing system that works for you on autopilot. The pros is that when you go through MLM Courses you come out with a better understanding of online marketing. You can easily brand yourself, and you have more flexibility with your marketing strategy.

The cons is simply that it’s harder …and most people don’t like harder. :/

There are 5 essential components to getting your marketing funnel set up. The first is an effective lead capture page.

1. Personalized Lead Capture page – This is a simple one page web site that offers a compelling offer (free information, video, training, e-book etc) and exchanges the information for the prospect’s contact information (name, email, phone number).

The information in your offer needs to be of Top Quality. Time and time again I run into “Crappy” free offers that don’t make the visitor want to take action.

Another thing I see often is a nice compelling offer that incentivizes the visitor but when they receive it, it nothing but re-hashed content with no unique twist or new information. This is a huge mistake that most online network marketers make.

Think about it…

This is the first impression your prospect gets of you. This Free content you give them, (that I call the Crash Course), needs to do three things:

• Give you instant credibility
• “Wow” your prospect
• Make them like and trust you

How do you accomplish all 3 at once?

Simple… give them Good, Valuable, Useful information that they can use right away, or at least help them understand the concepts a bit better.

I’m assuming you understand the importance of building a list of targeted prospect by now, so this is what your main priority needs to be.

I created a concept called “The Information Value Curve”, which says that when it comes to lead generation, I believe you can offer your knowledge to anyone below your own specific information value curve…as long as what you’re offering is perceived as something that can help your prospects get to the next level.

You need to understand that being an expert for the purpose of Lead Generation means knowing slightly more about the topic than the customer… and nothing more. If you’ve read this far, you know more than most network marketers out there trying to figure everything out.

Here’s a chart that shows how the information value curve works…

As you continue to increase your value over time, and consistently offer more and more information, you increase your “Perceived Expert Rank” (PER). You become a leader in the marketplace, attract more people, generate more leads, expand your fan base, and added to all those great benefits…

…it also makes marketing and selling 10X easier.

Surprised? You should be… J

But why does selling become easier? There’s a simple answer to that and I’ll answer it with a quote I heard, but forgot who I heard it from…

“The Key to making sales is not what happens ON the phone, but rather, the process that someone goes through BEFORE you ever talk with them”

This holds true in online marketing and sales too. Before the prospects gets to see your business opportunity, sales page, or product recommendation, you need to educate them on the benefits of having it so they will be pre-sold before they buy, or join.

When creating a lead capture page your goal is entice the visitor to take action and capture their name and email. There are several elements to an effective capture page but these 7 are the most essential in my mind since they’ve been helpful in the development of my own lead capture pages.

1. Compelling Headline

The headline is the most important part of your sales letter because it must capture attention instantly and also fuel interest. Headlines should communicate the essence of your message and wet visitors’ reading appetite. Without a strong compelling reason to read on, the visitor will leave your web page.

2. Bulleted Benefits

When crafting a lead capture page, another important component would be your bullet points.  The bullets are designed to further drive home what has been brought out in the headline and the body copy of the page.

3. Clear Call To Action

This is what makes the visitors take action. It gives them a quick run down of what they are getting by opting in. One thing to make sure is that the Call To Action is visible at all times.

4. Visible Opt-In Form

This is where you want your visitor to get to. Believe it or not the way you set up your sign up box on your lead capture page is really important. You don’t want to ask your reader to give you too much information in the first shot or you might scare them off. General consensus points to asking for name and email address. Your subscription box code can be found within your autoresponder. By placing this code on your lead capture page the readers that opt in will immediately begin to receive your auto responder messages.

5. Irresistible Offer

It’s tough to get people to join your list without a good incentive. Provide something like a solid report or ebook in return for their subscription to your list. To make the best impression possible, over-deliver on your promises by giving extra tips and bonuses, all for free of course. In addition to getting your new subscribers to like you, this will also brand you as an expert because you’re giving away all this quality information for free.

6. Privacy Statement

A privacy statement needs to be included on the lead capture page so interested individuals who would like more information on the product or service are guaranteed their personal information is not going to be sold or rented. This displays your professionalism and builds trust.

7. Audio / Video To increase personal touch

These days it is almost essential to have a video on the lead capture page. Video is especially important if you want to succeed in network marketing. It is easier to build trust with someone when they can see your face. However, if you’re afraid to get on camera then stick to the 6 elements above and you’ll do great.

Now don’t just read this post and NOT take action… go and create your own capture page and start building your list. If you already have a lead capture page, then go back and refine, tweak it until your converting at optimum levels.
